Happy Birthday to Me

Dear Thomas,

Happy 3rd Birthday to my June Bug. I know every mom in the universe says that they can't believe how old their child is on each passing birthday and I feel the same way the rest of those moms feel. I just can't believe that my little June is three. But what I can believe and what I know is the truth is that everyday since June 1, 2005, I have loved you more and more each day. You have taught me so much in the the short three years that you have been in my life. You are my little reminder that prayers work everytime you laugh your sweet laugh, everytime I see that sparkle in your eye, everytime you sing a song with all your heart and everytime you are just you. You have done and said so many things from the time you turned two until today.

Here are just a few that make me so proud of you...

1. You love with all your heart

2. You try to make others laugh with you

3. When you sing, you sing with all your heart

4. When you offer me a pretend donut and I say no, you tell me that the donut has chocolate on it and I should reconsider

5. Some of your favorite songs are Jessie's Girl, Sweet Escape, Kodachrome, Cecilia and the Madagascar Song and you do know all the words

6. You realize when it is appropriate to say Thank you and You're Welcome in both English and Vietnamese

7. When you knew I was sad, you offered to scratch my back, get me a tissue & bandaid and offer me my very own magic

8. You remind us to say our prayers before dinner and you enthusiastically say "Amen"

9. You don't need mom and dad to try something new for the first time

10. You are friendly and are quick to make friends wherever you go

11. You are june bug with the biggest heart and kindest soul

When I look at you each day, I just don't know what I did to deserve you. You are the best little boy and the most beautiful and the best part - I am your mommy. I love being your mommy everyday. Your birthday was and still is the best day of my life. I love you the mostest, Thomas. Happy Birthday to the sweetest june bug there will ever be.

As I look back over the first three years of your life,
I am very proud of the little boy you are becoming.

You are a good listener and sharer, for a 3 year old.
You are a great drinker of milk, for anyone.
Unfortunately, your eating and sleeping habits are inconsistent.
But don’t worry nobody is perfect.

Most of all over the first three years of your life,
I have fallen in love with your sweet soul.
You comfort those around when they are sad,
You try new things without the blink of an eye,
And your love for music, animals and Magic is inspiring.
